San Jose, CA - The San Francisco Giants have announced that right-handed pitcher Sergio Romo is scheduled to appear with the San Jose Giants on Tuesday, May 31 at Municipal Stadium as part of a rehabilitation assignment, subject to change. The 5:30 PM start will feature a doubleheader as the team makes up previously postponed games against the Lancaster JetHawks, with Romo scheduled to appear in the second game beginning thirty minutes after the conclusion of game one. The organization will also unveil the commemorative Jim Davenport "Davvy" patches on their home uniform in a pregame ceremony with son Gary Davenport and family.
Prior to injury, Romo boasted a 2.70 ERA over four appearances this season. A former San Jose Giant, he was also a member of the San Francisco Giants 2010, 2012 and 2014 World Championship teams. Romo is recovering from a strained flexor tendon in his right elbow.
The San Jose Giants finish off a home and away series with the Modesto Nuts today at 2:00 PM as the team hosts Salute to the Military Day on Memorial Day. Fans are invited to come out to Municipal Stadium for a FREE 12 innings of baseball on May 31. General Admission tickets for both games will be complimentary, with upgrades to box and upper reserved seats available for purchase.
