The Lincoln Saltdogs rebounded from a loss in the series opener behind a brilliant performance on the mound from starting pitcher Jim Paduch. Paduch allowed one run on four hits while fanning 10 Wingnuts through eight innings en route to his first win of the postseason. Lincoln's number one and two hitters, CF Josh Burrus and SS Albenis Machado, respectively, combined to go 5-for-7 at the plate with two runs scored and three RBI. The Saltdogs got on the board first with a run in the first inning, but Wichita answered with a run in the third to tie the score. Lincoln put the game away for good in the fifth inning, when a three-run rally gave the 4-1 lead that would prove to be the final. Saltdogs closer Chris Thompson, the American Association's regular season saves leader, fanned two in the ninth for his first save of the playoffs.

Fort Worth 8, Pensacola 2 (Series tied, 1-1)

Fort Worth starting pitcher Joel Kirsten pitched the Cats back into the series, allowing one run on four hits through seven innings of work to earn the win and even the series at 1-1. Kirsten allowed the Pelicans to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but his offense answered with a run in the bottom of the frame to tie things up at 1-1. Kirsten then settled in, allowing just two hits over the next six innings. SS Cameron Blair led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run, a run scored and two RBI. RF Ryan Patterson was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a run scored and a RBI to aid in the winning effort. Pensacola 2B Antoin Gray homered for the second time in as many games and finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored in the loss.
