Harrisburg Senators News Release
Wednesday night in Richmond the Senators fell behind 2-0 to the Richmond Flying Squirrels, rallied to tie the game at 2-2, before falling 3-2. Richmond plated a run in the bottom of the seventh on a bloop single over a drawn-in infield making a winner out of Jake Dunning.
Ryan Perry started for the Sens and pitched in and out of trouble in the first three innings before Richmond finally broke through for two runs in the fourth.
The Senators came right back in the fifth to cut the lead in half on a single by Sean Nicol, driving in Johnny Tucker to make it 2-1 Richmond. In the seventh, the Senators evened the game. With one out, Jose Lozada was hit by a pitch and then Tucker singled, sending Lozada to third. Pinch-hitter Seth Bynum grounded out to shortstop, driving in Lozada with the tying run and moving Tucker to second but Nicol struck out to end the frame.
Richmond came back in the bottom of the seventh against Pat McCoy with a bunt single, balk, sacrifice bunt, and then the blooper to shallow left to score the go-ahead run.
Darryl Maday came on for Richmond and allowed a two-out single in the eighth, but that was the only base runner against him in his two inning save. McCoy took the loss for the Sens (62-74) and falls to 7-3 while Jake Dunning earned the win for Richmond (69-68).
The final game of the series and final road game of the 2012 season is Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. with RH Brian Broderick on the hill for the Sens against RH Justin Fitzgerald for Richmond. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website and through the iHeart Radio app on all mobile devices beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m.
