Jackson, MS; August 14, 2003 – The Senators took game one of the three game series vs. the Shreveport Sports Thursday night 4-1. Rusty Camp (1-1) went eight strong and effective innings, allowing one run on five hits in picking up his first win of the season. Brandon Parker for the second straight night came in and shut the door on the opposing team, as he struck out the side in the ninth, after allowing one hit. Parker now has 21 saves on the season, best in the CBL. Jason Slanina (6-4) suffered the loss, going 5.2 innings and giving up four runs on nine hits. Keto Anderson continued to hit the ball well, going 2-5 at the plate while scoring a run. The win helped the Senators improve to 23-17 on the half and 54-34 overall on the 2003 season. The Sports fell to 17-22 during 2nd half play and 46-41 on the season.
Next home game: Will take place on Friday, August 15, 2003, as it will be “Bell South Yellow Pages Seat Cushions,” with the first 500 adults through the front gates receiving a free seat cushion. In addition, kids get to run the bases after the game. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. with the gates opening at 6:00 p.m.
