Senators assign players following rookie camp

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators Hockey Club today announced the assignments for the players that attended the annual rookie camp and tournament. The Club assigned nine players to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate in Binghamton, four were re-assigned to their junior clubs and nine players were returned to their amateur clubs.

Assigned to the Binghamton Senators were forwards Brandon Bochenski, Derek Campbell, Danny Bois, Arpad Mihaly, Grant Potulny, Greg Watson, defencemen Neil Komadoski and Jan Platil, and goaltender Kelly Guard.

Meanwhile, re-assigned to their respective junior clubs were defencemen Andrej Meszaros (Vancouver, WHL) and Will Colbert (Ottawa, OHL), goalie Jeff Glass (Kootenay, WHL), and forward Roman Wick (Red Deer, WHL).

Returned to their amateur clubs were forwards Jerome Briere, Peter Tsimikalis, Josh Patterson, Rob Fried and Nathan O'Nabigon; and defencemen Pierre Mitsou, Riley Day, André Joanisse and Eric Nelson.

Ottawa went 2-2 in four games played at Pierrefonds arena in Montreal, Que. The Senators took the consolation final over the Florida Panthers while the Toronto Maple Leafs edged the Montreal Canadians in the final on Monday night.

The Binghamton Senators' training camp opens on Sunday, Sept. 26 with medicals and physicals while on-ice sessions begin on Monday, Sept. 27. The club opens its five-game pre-season schedule on Saturday, Oct. 2, when they play host to the Syracuse Crunch at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

Binghamton will open the 2004-05 regular season on the road at Albany on Oct. 15 before returning home the next night for a 7:05 p.m. home opener against Syracuse at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
