SAN JOSE (March 5, 2003) â San Jose CyberRays players, coaches and staff will attend a pre-premiere screening of the award-winning soccer movie ``Bend It Like Beckham,'' and lucky fans can win free tickets to see the show with them.
Fans may register at Saturday's 3 p.m. CyberRays-Cal scrimmage at Evergreen Valley College in San Jose or online at www.sjcyberrays.com. Winners will be notified by email and will receive a pass for two to the March 18 screening, at which they may get autographs and see the movie with the team.
``Bend It Like Beckham,'' an award-winner at the Sundance Film Festival, is the story of Jess, the daughter of an Indian family in London who has the unorthodox dream of playing professional soccer like her hero, England national team star David Beckham. The movie features an appearance by CyberRays captain Brandi Chastain, highlights from WUSA games and scenes at Santa Clara University. It is rated PG-13, Parental Guidance strongly suggested for children 13 and under.
