Sedrick Robinson named AFL's Offensive Player of the Month

COLUMBUS, OH – Columbus Destroyers wide receiver/defensive back Sedrick Robinson has been named the Arena Football League's Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Month for his standout play during the month of May, it was announced Friday. This is the first monthly honor for Robinson in his four-year AFL career.

Robinson (5-9, 175, Kentucky Wesleyan) had 29 catches for 508 yards and nine touchdowns, while rushing the ball 16 times for 46 yards including three scores in leading the Destroyers to a 3-2 record in Columbus' final five games of the season. He also established himself as one of the league's most lethal return men, returning 29 kicks for 672 yards and three touchdowns, giving him 1,226 all-purpose yards in May. In addition, Robinson completed 2-of-2 pass attempts for 51 yards and a touchdown to round out his offensive output during the last moth of the regular season.

His 353 all-purpose yards on May 9 were the second most in team history and his 238 kick return yards set a Destroyers single game franchise record. Robinson had over 250 all-purpose yards three times in May (1st, 9th, 22nd) and finished the month with 15 total touchdowns scored (9 receiving, 3 rushing, 3 returns).

For the season, Robinson was the Destroyers' second-leading receiver with 73 catches for 1,063 yards and 19 touchdowns and second-leading rusher with 22 carries for 68 yards and six touchdowns in 16 games played. Robinson was also the Destroyers' primary catalyst on special teams, returning 72 kicks (T-2nd in AFL) for 1,580 yards (2nd in AFL) and five touchdowns (T-1st in AFL) in 2004. His five returns for a score set a Destroyers franchise record for a single season.

Other monthly award winners include Las Vegas Gladiators WR/DB Cornelius Bonner (ADT Defensive Player of the Month), Orlando Predators WR/LB Cory Fleming (U.S. Army Ironman), Chicago Rush WR/DB Etu Molden (Rookie) and Keith Gispert (Kicker).

NBC Sports' coverage of the Arena Football League's drive to ArenaBowl XVIII continues this Saturday, June 12 at 3 p.m. (ET) when the No. 3-seeded Chicago Rush takes on the No. 2-seeded San Jose SaberCats in San Jose for a semi-final contest. The playoff action then continues on Sunday, June 13 at 3 p.m. (ET) when the No. 5-seeded Colorado Crush travels to Arizona to face the top-seeded Rattlers in the weekend's second semi-final matchup.
