
Second Badger Joins Wheeling Football

Wheeling, WV- The 2002 National Champion Ohio Valley Greyhounds welcome the second Wisconsin Badger to play for the Wheeling franchise.
The Greyhounds are pleased to announce the signing of Willie Austin from the University of Wisconsin. Austin is a 6'3", 190 pound wide receiver, while at Wisconsin the Badgers won a Big 10 title and a Rose Bowl in 1999.
Austin played in the IFL for the Madison Mad Dogs during the 2000 season. Willie played Wr, Cb, Pr and Qb for the Mad Dogs. He was selected first team IFL and played in the IFL pro- bowl in Ashville, NC. for the Eastern All- Stars. Austin versus the Steel Valley Smash in two games recorded seven td's.
Austin played the 2001 season with the Pensacola Barracudas of the AF2 as a Wr/Db, 60 receptions for 695 yards and 17 td's.
Willie signed with the LaCrosse Night Train in 2002 and left the team for the birth of his second child and did not return.
Austin graduated from Miami Central High School, where he was recruited as a Qb, Willie was trained by former Greyhound coach Wilkie Perez.
The first Badger to play in Wheeling was LB- Erik Unverzagt in 1999.
