Manchester Wolves News Release

The arenafootball2 league office announced today that Wolves' defensive specialist Allistair Sebastien has been named the ADT Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding play during Week Four's match up against the Louisville Fire.

Sebastien had a huge game last week in helping the Wolves to their first win of the season, a 39-34 road victory over the Louisville Fire at Freedom Hall in Kentucky. The four-year af2 veteran intercepted a pair of passes, broke up four more and collected 5.5 tackles from his spot in the secondary. Sebastien was instrumental in helping the Wolves defense turn back the Fire on seven different occasions, including in the final seconds, as Louisville pushed for the go-ahead score.

"Allistair definitely deserves the award," said Wolves Head Coach Ben Bennett. "He brings veteran leadership to our defense and he made the difference in that ballgame for us."

In addition to earning the af2's weekly defensive honor, Sebastien, with his two interceptions, jumped into a fourth place tie all-time in career interceptions with 22, also a Wolves franchise record. Sebastien is the af2's active career leader in interceptions and is only five off the record of 27, set by Arkee Thompson from 2001 to 2003. Sebastien currently ranks second in the af2 this season in interceptions per game ( 1.00) and fourth in passes defended per game (4.50).

This is the first weekly award of Sebastien's career. The Dominican Republic native has been playing for the Wolves since 2003, and is the only active player from the Mohegan Wolves currently playing in Manchester.
