SeaWolves Walk Off on Baysox in Extras

Quincy Nieporte lined a walk-off single in the bottom of the 11th to give the Erie SeaWolves a 5-4 victory against the Bowie Baysox on Wednesday at UPMC Park. Erie has now won four consecutive games.
The Baysox opened the scoring in the first. Joey Ortiz laced a two-out triple to left against Austin Bergner. Maverick Handley then brought in Ortiz with an RBI single to give Bowie a 1-0 lead.
Bowie added a run in the following inning. Adam Hall reached on a one-out single. Cesar Prieto laid down a bunt single and it was picked up by Dillon Dingler. Erie's backstop threw the ball into right field, which advanced Hall to third and Prieto to second. Kerry Carpenter fielded the ball in right and uncorked a low throw to plate that Dingler could not handle. Hall came around to score on the second error on the play and Erie trailed, 2-0.
The SeaWolves retaliated in the bottom of the second. Wenceel Perez led off with a single against Justin Armbruester. Andre Lipcius then notched his second hit of the day to move Perez to third. Quincy Nieporte lifted a sac fly to right to bring home Perez and put Erie on the board. Dane Myers smoked a two-run jack to pull the SeaWolves ahead, 3-2.
Myers teed off again in the sixth with a solo homer to make it a 4-2 ballgame. He now has ten bombs on the season and had the first multi-homer game in his professional career.
Bowie rallied back in the ninth. Zac Houston walked the leadoff man Chris Givin. Two batters later, Zach Watson delivered a two-run blast to tie the game, 4-4. The home run ended the bullpen's 17.2 innings of scoreless baseball.
Erie sealed the victory in the 11th. Lipcius was the free runner on second and the Baysox decided to intentionally walk Carpenter. Jensen Elliott misfired a wild pitch to the backstop, which advanced both runners 90 feet. Nieporte then dinged a line shot off the left-field fence to give the SeaWolves their fifth walk-off victory of the 2022 campaign.
Bergner received the no-decision. He notched his second consecutive quality start and the fourth one of the season. The Florida native hurled six innings, allowing two runs, one earned run, and eight hits, walking none while racking up six strikeouts.
Yaya Chentouf (2-1) earned the win. He tossed two perfect frames and struck out two hitters.
Elliott (4-2) was tagged with the loss. He gave up an unearned run in two innings of work.
