SeaWolves Stump Senators in 7-0 Win

The SeaWolves pitching staff shined once again on Saturday night as the 'Wolves shut out the Harrisburg Senators 7-0 at Metro Bank Park. The shutout was the eighth of the year tossed by the SeaWolves pitching staff.

The SeaWolves struck first in the top of the fourth against Harrisburg starter Erik Arnesen. Brandon Douglas led off with a single, extending his hitting streak to nine straight games, which equals a season-high. Douglas advanced from first to third on a hit and run groundout and scored on a Bryan Pounds base hit for a 1-0 lead.

Erie added to the lead in the top of the sixth. Rawley Bishop singled with one out and Deik Scram crushed his seventh home run of the season off the scoreboard in right. The two-run blast made it 3-0 Erie.

The SeaWolves once again added to the lead in the top of the seventh. Jamie Johnson snapped a two-game hitless streak with a base hit and he stole second. Douglas walked putting two on for Justin Henry. Henry hit into a fielder's choice but on an error, all three runners were safe and the 'Wolves had the bases loaded. Pounds followed with a single up the middle, plating a pair for a 5-0 Erie lead. Bishop singled home Henry and Pounds scored on a double play and the 'Wolves had a 7-0 edge.

Luis Marte (2-0) earned the win in a spot start, his first start of the season. Marte tossed five shutout innings, allowing three hits with a walk and six strikeouts.

Ramon Garcia and Jared Gayhart combined to work the final four innings of the game, preserving the shutout. Gayhart struck out three while not allowing a hit.

SeaWolves pitchers have allowed just one run over the first two games of the series.

The SeaWolves will go for the series sweep on Sunday afternoon at Metro Bank Park.2:00 First Pitch. Lefty Jay Voss (8-6, 3.51 ERA) takes the mound for the 'Wolves against RHP Shairon Martis (7-4, 3.03 ERA).
