Tulsa Oilers News Release
Curtain Falls: The Tulsa Oilers conclude the 2008-09 season this week, hosting the Mississippi RiverKings Wednesday night at 7:05, in their home finale. They travel to Wichita Friday for a 7:05 p.m. contest and wrap up the season at Mississippi Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
Close Calls: The Oilers played four games last week all decided by one goal. They lost 3-2 to Oklahoma City on Tuesday; lost by the same score Friday in Rapid City; won 6-5 in overtime at Rocky Mountain Saturday; and lost 2-1 at New Mexico Sunday afternoon.
Big Rally: Saturday night's win was full of season superlatives for the Oilers. The six goals equals the season high. The Oilers trailed 5-1 going into the third period. Their four goal third period was the most goals the Oilers have scored in a period this season. They had 19 shots that period, also tying a season high, and allowed only two shots which also matched a season best for fewest shots allowed in a period.
Real Winner: Brendon Hodge had the Oilers overtime goal on Saturday night. It was his fifth game winning goal of the season, to lead the team.
St. Be Praised: Goaltender Kevin St. Pierre made 50 saves Sunday afternoon in New Mexico. It was the fourth time this season he has made at least 50 saves in a game.
Nail Biters: The Oilers have now played six straight one goal games, and seven of their last eight have been decided by one goal. For the season, the Oilers have had 27 of their 61 games decided by one goal. They are 10-9-8 in those contests.
