Seaman Goes to Blues

Pittsburgh, PA. -- For the eighth consecutive season the Brandon Wheat Kings have had a player chosen in the National Hockey League Entry Draft.

18-year old center Tyrel Seaman was one of thirty-two Western Hockey League players taken as the draft concluded with rounds two through seven in Pittsburgh.

A Choiceland, Saskatchewan product, Seaman was chosen by the St. Louis Blues in the seventh round (206th overall).

While he was the highest rated Wheat King heading into this year's draft (104th among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting), Seaman was coming off a season that saw him miss forty games due to injury.

Despite that, the 6'2" 210 lb Seaman told CKLQ's Bruce Luebke earlier this week that he learned a lot about himself during the year.

"If you work hard, you'll be able to make it back into game shape after an injury like that," said Seaman, "You learn how to get better and not let yourself get into a situation where your mind limits what you're able to do."

In 32 games during the 2011-12 campaign, Seaman had six goals and nineteen points.
