San Diego Seals News Release
The San Diego Seals announced today that the team has placed the Franchise Tag on goaltender Frank Scigliano. Scigliano, who is a pending unrestricted free agent, will no longer have the opportunity to explore free agency and will be back in San Diego for the 2022-2023 NLL season.
"This guarantees that Frankie will be back with us for next season," said General Manager and Head Coach Patrick Merrill. "We believe he earned the status and designation as our Franchise Player over his first three seasons with us, and we're excited to have him back in San Diego for another season."
Scigliano, 30, has been the team's starting goalie since he was selected by San Diego in the 2018 NLL Expansion Draft from the Calgary Roughnecks. He's appeared in 44 regular season games between the pipes for the Seals, stopping 1,563 shots. The British Columbia native set an NLL record during the 2021-2022 NLL season, becoming the first goaltender to record three games in a season allowing only four or less goals (12/11 vs. COL, 1/29 vs. CGY, 2/12 vs. PCLC). Scigliano was selected 18th overall in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft.
