Florida Seals News Release

Orlando – The Orlando Seals snapped a 3-game losing streak Wednesday night as they defeated the Macon Trax 3-2 in a shootout. Mike Correia stopped 23 of 25 shots and 2 of 4 in the shootout.

Macon drew first blood near the midway point of the first period on Luke Murphy's seventh goal of the season, a power play tally at 8:07.

Jason Elders tied it up for the Seals in the third on a two-man advantage. Chris LiPuma's slapshot from the point was stopped by Macon goaltender Andy Kollar but the rebound came out to Brad Federenko who fed Elders at the right goalpost for his 15th of the season.

Mike Sanderson gave Orlando a 2-1 lead one minute and 38 seconds later as he took advantage of a stickless Kollar, batting home a rebound from deep on the right wing side for his 8th of the season. Seamus Galligan and Ryan Anderson were credited with the assists on the play.

The Trax fought back with their second power play tally of the night as John Gurskis caught the Seals running around in their own zone, knotting the game at 2-2.

The Seals entered overtime shorthanded but managed to kill off the penalty while getting a couple great scoring chances at the same time. There was no scoring in the overtime period, bringing the game to the ever-exciting shootout, where B.J. Stephens, Elders, and Sanderson scored for the victory.

The Seals gear up for 3 games in 3 days this weekend, including a home-and-home against Lakeland Friday and Saturday. Both games begin at 7:05pm. All Seals game can be heard at www.IRN.FM.
