San Diego Seals News Release
The San Diego Seals announced today that forward Austin Staats has been added to the Active Roster, pending league approval. Staats started the season on the Inactive Roster due to a knee injury.
"We're thrilled to have Austin back," said General Manager and Head Coach Patrick Merrill. "He's a huge part of our team both on the floor and in the locker room. We all know what type of player he is, and we're stoked to have him back out there."
Staats has recorded 42 goals and 87 points in 19 career games with the Seals. He appeared in five games in the COVID-shortened season, registering 26 points. Staats was the first overall pick in the 2018 NLL Entry Draft and was named the 2018-19 NLL Rookie of the Year after leading all rookies in goals (32) and points (61) despite missing the final four games with an ACL injury.
"I'm excited to get back out there with the boys," said Staats. "I'm going to do whatever I can to help make this team better. We all know the expectations for this season. I'm ready and I'm coming."
In a corresponding move, the Seals have placed forward Zack Greer on the Injured Reserve List.
