San Diego Loyal News Release
San Diego, CA - San Diego Loyal SC (SD Loyal) announced today the acquisition of midfielder Miguel Ibarra, pending league and federation approval, as well as two players on loan, forward Miguel Berry and defender Jack Maher. The new MLS additions join the club just ahead of their second-ever Home Opener at Torero Stadium on May 29.
"Part of the DNA of SD Loyal is helping players move on to the next level," said Landon Donovan, EVP of Soccer Operations and Manager. "We've proven that we're true to that with Rubio Rubin and Jon Kempin. Having Miguel Ibarra, Miguel Berry and Jack Maher join the club not only helps us, but helps them grow and develop for the next level."
Ibarra, 31, joins SD Loyal after playing with Club Leon of Liga MX and MLS clubs Minnesota United FC and most recently, Seattle Sounders FC. The native Californian capped with the USMNT on three occasions from 2014-2015 and has been one of the few American second division players called to the national team. After spending seven seasons with Minnesota United FC, Ibarra was a beloved star for the club, especially during its NASL era.
Berry, 23, returns to the club after scoring three goals on seven appearances while on loan for SD Loyal during the 2020 season. Born in Barcelona and raised in San Diego's Poway, he was selected seventh overall in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft by Columbus Crew. Maher, 21, is on loan from MLS side Nashville SC and was the second overall pick in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft.
Season Ticket Memberships are on sale now for four payments of $25 through May 31, 2021. Seats can be purchased by calling (858) 465-GOAL or at sdloyal.com/memberships. Single match tickets are on sale to the general public beginning at $25 and can be purchased at sdloyal.com/tickets.
