Scrub In Friday Night Against Odessa

February 14, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

Join us Friday night at 7:05 pm at CenturyTel Center as the Mudbugs take on the Odessa Jackalopes and we celebrate the Medical profession with Scrubs Night brought to you by Apria Healthcare. Groups showcasing hospitals, healthcare professionals and private clinics throughout the Ark-La-Tex will be on hand for the contest and we will be hosting a LifeShare blood drive before the game.

Join the hundreds of medical professionals at the game and show your spirit by wearing your Scrubs to receive discounted $9.00 tickets at the Box Office window the night of the game. Mudbugs t-shirts will also be given out courtesy of Apria Healthcare. The LifeShare Blood Drive will take place on the concourse from 6 to 8 pm the night of the game. 3,335 units of blood are needed every month to meet the needs of patients throughout Northwest Louisiana . That means patients are depending upon 111 donors every day to help them get the blood they need. Since blood can only be donated every 56 days, 6,216 different people must give blood within a two-month period to meet area patients' needs. Join Mudbugs forward Karlis Zirnis and General Manager Steve Cherwonak, who will both be giving blood before the game, in giving the gift of life and becoming a blood donor.

The game will feature the Mudbugs taking on Odessa in their only meeting this year with the Jackalopes. The Mudbugs still have the league's best record and a 13-point division lead coming into the weekend, while the Jacks have been one of the stories of the CHL this season, contending for the Southwest Division lead after finishing with the league's fourth-worst record last year. High-scoring All-Star forwards Sebastien Thinel (8th in the CHL with 61 points) and Dominic Leveille (24 goals, 59 points) lead the way offensively for Odessa, who is currently just two points behind Arizona and New Mexico for the lead in the tight Southwest Division. At the other end of the ice, rookie goaltender Alexandre Vincent (also an All-Star) has four shutouts (second to only John DeCaro's eight) and has joined the Mudbugs' two goaltenders at the top of the CHL goalie rankings for most of the year.

Bossier-Shreveport is trying to snap a two-game losing skid and start a new home streak after their run of 18 wins in a row at CenturyTel Center was snapped last Saturday. The puck drops Friday night at 7:05 pm between your first-place Mudbugs and the Odessa Jackalopes. Individual tickets are on sale through Ticketmaster at 318-741-9700 and group tickets can be purchased through the Mudbugs office at 318-752-BUGS.
