Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Crosscutters 5-game winning streak came to an end on Thursday night in Mahoning Valley with a 5-2 loss to the Scrappers.
Cutters starter Justin De Fratus (6-5) allowed a single run in the 1st inning but breezed through the next 54 frames holding Mahoning Valley scoreless.
In the 7th with one out the Scrappers loaded the bases on De Fratus who was relived by Sean Grieve. Grieve came in and walked three and had two wild pitches in just 2/3 of an inning, allowing a total of 4 runs, 3 of which were charged to De Fratus. Cutters pitching allowed only five hits but the combination of six walks and four errors led to disaster for Williamsport.
The Cutters meanwhile scored two runs in the first and were held scoreless for the remainder of the contest. SS Troy Hanzawa was the only Cutter to record two hits.
Williamsport now travels to Jamestown for a Friday night double header with the Jammers. The Cutters final game of the season is Saturday night in Jamestown. The games can be heard on ESPN Radio Williamsport (104.1FM & 1050AM).
