Solid starting pitching again was a key to the start of Sunday's game in Brooklyn as starter Russell Young worked five innings and surrendered just one run while walking none and striking out five, but would not factor in the decision.
The Scrappers scored first in the third when Walter Diaz singled, Juan Valdes walked and then both scored on a Lonnie Chisenhall double.
Brooklyn scored their first run in the sixth when John Servido doubled and then advanced to third and scored on a ground out. The Cyclones then tied things up at two in seventh when Sean Ratliff hit a solo home run off of reviver Wilfredo Ramirez.
In the top of the eighth the Scrappers could not score, the in the bottom of the eighth the Cyclones scored a pair on a Josh Satin double, off of reliever Austin Creps.
In the top of the ninth the Scrappers went down quickly and fell to the Cyclones 4-2. Game 3 is Monday afternoon, with a 12:05 first pitch.
