Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Rapid City Rush defeated the Allen Americans 4-3 at Allen Event Center, as the Americans drop their second in a row and fifth in the last six games.
The Rush opened the scoring in the first, when forward Scott Wray scored on a wrap-around in front of the Allen net, beating Aaron Dell to give Rapid a 1-0 lead. The Americans tied it up eleven minutes later when Kale Kerbashian fired one from the face-off circle on the right side into the net to make it a 1-1 game. The Americans outshoot Rapid City in the first 13 to 8.
With the Rush on the power play in the second, Americans forward Jarret Lukin stole the puck at center racing into the Rapid City zone on the left side and fired one past Danny Battachio for his second shorthanded goal of the season, and the Americans grabbed their first lead 2-1. It was Jarret Lukin unassisted. Less than a minute later, still on the power play, the Rush would tie the score when forward Damian Surma scored to even the game at 2-2.
The Americans would regain the lead for the second time in the game when Jason Deitsch redirected a Mike Berube shot to put Allen up 3-2 at the 11:12 mark. Less than three minutes later, it was Damian Surma again with his second of the night firing one in from along the left wing boards to even the game for the third time 3-3.
Both teams started out overtime a man short, and just over two minutes in, Scott Wray poked home the game winner on a rebound in front of the Allen net beating Aaron Dell, as Rapid City picked up the second point as the Americans dropped their second in a row 4-3.
