Scorpions Sign Two More Former MLS Players

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Wednesday, March 19, 2014) - The San Antonio Scorpions have added European and Major League Soccer experience to their backline in the form of right fullback Jonathan Borrajo, Scorpions President / GM Howard Cornfield and Head Coach Alen Marcina announced today.

"Jonathan is a player we identified in our off season who has prior experience playing for the New York Red Bulls and professionally in Norway," said head coach Alen Marcina. "He provides width and pace to our right side and he's a dynamic defender that we're delighted to have join the squad."

Borrajo played in the New York Red Bulls' academy from 2006-07 and signed with the club in 2012, making one appearance for the senior team. In Europe, Borrajo was an integral part of Norwegian second division side HamKam's promotion to the Tippeligaen (first division) during the 2011 campaign and he made 36 total appearances over two seasons with the team. After his stint with the Red Bulls, Borrajo returned to Norway's top flight in 2013, this time with Mj=F8ndalen IF, where he played in 31 matches for the club.

The 26-year-old, 5'9" Borrajo is a native of Clifton, New Jersey, and starred for George Mason University from 2005-08. His professional career includes appearances with: New Jersey Rangers (USL PDL), Real Maryland Monarchs (USL PDL), HamKam (Norway), New York Red Bulls (MLS) and Mj=F8ndalen IF (Norway).

With the signing of Borrajo and Josue Soto, the Scorpions' 2014 roster is nearing completion with 19 total players on the squad. They are:

D - Stephen DeRoux, Greg Janicki, Adrian Cann, Julius James, Jonathan Borrajo

M - Javier Saavedra, Danny Barrera, Jeff Jennings, Richard Menjivar, Josue Soto

F - Sainey Touray, Tomasz Zahorski, Walter Restrepo, Jonathan Fana, Sam Garza, Shaun Saiko, Eric Hassli
