Scorpions Sign Defender Logan Emory
September 13, 2013 - North American Soccer League (NASL)
San Antonio Scorpions News Release
The Scorpions have signed 25-year-old, versatile defender, Logan Emory, for the rest of the 2013 NASL season, Scorpions President and General Manager Howard Cornfield announced on Friday.
"Logan is a very good defender," said interim head coach, Alen Marcina. "Our defense is an area that we lack depth in, currently, so he certainly adds to that. He won a championship in Puerto Rico, he has MLS experience, and he's still young so he will be a great addition to our team."
Emory most recently played with Toronto FC of Major League Soccer where he made 24 appearances from 2012 to 2013. He started his professional career playing in 18 games overall with both the Spokane Spiders and the Portland Timbers U-23's in the USL Premier Development League.
In 2010, he joined the Puerto Rico Islanders of the USSF Division 2 Professional League (Now the NASL), making 51 appearances for the side and winning the league with the Islanders in 2010. Emory and the Islanders made it to the NASL semi-finals in 2011.
"It's a great opportunity," said Emory. "I've been sitting at home and wondering what's next for me recently. The Scorpions reached out to me and offered me a place to play, and a place to finish the season, so I'm excited to join."
The 25-year-old Emory was born in Boise, Idaho and attended Centennial High School where he was named the Idaho Men's Gatorade Player of the Year in 2005. He attended the University of Portland, being named to the All West Coast Conference Freshman Team in 2006.
Emory is on the active roster and will be available for selection in the Scorpions' next game in Atlanta against the Silverbacks on September 14th at 6:30 pm central time.
