[PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz.]-Behind 32 saves from goaltender Andrew Martin, the Scorpions won 5-2 in Arizona on Tuesday night. The win gave the Scorps four of a possible six points on their three-game road trip.

Scorpions head coach Randy Murphy was looking for his team to start fast out of the gates, and they did. His team responded with three goals in the opening period.

Jamie Herrington redirected a shot 6:58 into the first period putting the Scorps up 1-0. Jon Landry responded for the Sundogs with a power play goal six minutes later.

New Mexico responded fast and furious. Torren Delforte threw the puck at the net in what looked like a harmless shot. Arizona goaltender Marco Emond attempted a stick save, but ended up guiding the puck into his own net. The Scorps lead grew to 3-1 when Craig Macdonald made a fantastic move past the defender, lifting the puck into the net.

Early in the second period Macdonald picked up his second goal of the game. Tyler Fuller's initial shot was saved but the rebound hopped directly to Macdonald's stick who had the whole net to work with.

John Mazzei gave the Scorpions their biggest lead of the game with his second goal of the season. Mark Kolanos scored at 11:42 of the third period to finish the night's scoring.

New Mexico returns home on Friday, November 14th to celebrate Stanley's 7th birthday. Come out for a night of all your favorite area mascots when the Scorpions host Rocky Mountain starting at 7:15 p.m. The Scorpions host Colorado on Wednesday, November 19th, with a $1 soda special all game long.
