
Scorpions Release 2008-09 Schedule

[RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-The New Mexico Scorpions are proud to release their 2008-09 schedule featuring 25 weekend home games. As in years past the full schedule is 64 games over 23 weeks.
The Scorpions home and season opener is Friday, October 17th when long time rival, Amarillo comes to the Santa Ana Star Center. The game will drop the puck at 7:15 p.m. The very next night New Mexico will face-off against Amarillo in West Texas for their first road game of the season.
During the 2008-09 campaign the Scorps will be at home 13 Fridays, 10 Saturdays, and two Sundays for a record number of weekend games in one season. They will round out the home slate with two Tuesday games and five Wednesday games.
All Tuesday-Saturday home games will begin at 7:15 p.m. with one exception. The annual "School Day Game" will be Tuesday, December 16th when Amarillo visits at 10:30 a.m. This season's Sunday games will face-off at 3:15 p.m.
New Mexico will see Southwest Division opponents 27 times this season. The Scorps will renew their rivalry with CHL Champion Arizona with a visit to Prescott Valley on October 22nd. The Sundogs will make their first trip to New Mexico on November 21st.
The home schedule will be highlighted with a few holiday games. The Scorpions will host Texas on Halloween, Rocky Mountain the day after Christmas and Laredo on Valentine's Day.
The CHL's newest team, the Rapid City Rush, will make their maiden voyage to the Land of Enchantment on February 6th. The Scorpions will see the Rush for the first time in their new home starting January 16th for a weekend set.
Down the stretch the Scorps finish with a favorable home schedule. Four of the regular season's final five games will be played inside the Santa Ana Star Center. New Mexico will finish the season schedule with a visit from Arizona on March 20th and 21st.
The schedule features four three-games in three-night stretches. For the first time in four years the Scorpions will play in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
