San Antonio Scorpions News Release

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Friday, October 23, 2015) - The San Antonio Scorpions, New York Cosmos, and North American Soccer League (NASL) have agreed to move this weekend's match to Sunday afternoon at 1:00 PM due to the severe rain and likely flooding predicted to hit the San Antonio area on Saturday, Oct. 24. All season and individual tickets purchased for the game originally scheduled for Saturday evening will be valid for the Sunday kickoff.

"Our number one concern is for the safety and comfort of our fans," said Scorpions president & general manager Howard Cornfield. "Given the severity of the forecast - and particularly the likelihood of flooding - we felt this was the most prudent action to take. I'd like to personally thank Erik Stover and the New York Cosmos as well as NASL Commissioner Bill Peterson and the league office for their shared concern for the safety of our fans and the players to make this last minute change to the schedule."

This is the first time a Scorpions game has been rescheduled due to inclement weather. The 1:00 PM start will be the earliest kickoff of a home match in club history. The previous earliest start of a Scorpions game came on October 13, 2013. That game against FC Edmonton kicked off at 1:30 PM.

The Scorpions play their final home match of 2015 on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 1:00 PM against the New York Cosmos. This game will feature the only San Antonio appearance of former Real Madrid star Raúl. It will also be Dollar Day with $1 hot dogs, soft drinks and popcorn. Following the game, the Third Annual Maggie's Wish Breast Cancer Charity Auction will take place as the players will auction off their game-worn pink jerseys to benefit ThriveWell.
