[ RIO RANCHO, N.M.]- The New Mexico Scorpions, proud member of the Central Hockey League (CHL), have made their second trade of the season, acquiring goaltender David Cacciola from the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. To make room on the roster, New Mexico has waived goalie Walter Bartholomaeus.

Bossier-Shreveport receives future considerations from the Scorpions in the trade. Cacciola is en route to New Mexico and is expected to be in the lineup this Friday night when the Scorpions visit the Arizona Sundogs.

After three years at Providence College , Cacciola spent last season in Bossier-Shreveport. The Burlington, Mass. native appeared in 28 games and posted an 18-5-4 mark. During his rookie season he was fifth among goalies with a 2.54 goals against average and third in the CHL with a .926 save percentage.

"We fell great about the opportunity to acquire David," said Scorpions' Head Coach Ray Edwards. "We feel that by bringing in David it will give our team a great chance to win more hockey games."

Last season Cacciola shined in the playoffs, leading the Mudbugs to the President's Cup Finals. In 11 playoff games, the 24-year-old was 8-3-1 with a league best 1.76 goals against average and a .951 save percentage.
