
Schwartz Leads MoonDogs to Victory

Mankato, Minn.- The hometown hero Blake Schwartz (Minnesota St.) pitched another fabulous game for the MoonDogs Monday night. Schwartz pitched a complete game, giving up two hits and striking out an amazing 14 Thunder Bay hitters. Schwartz moves to 3-0 on the season and carries a staggering 0.83 ERA. John Lally suffered the loss for the Border Cats despite only giving up four hits, two runs and striking out eight MoonDogs.
Schwartz carried the âDogs for a majority of the game, then got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth inning thanks to a Cody Ferrell (Seminole St.) two-run home run that also scored Blaire Moore (San Diego St.) Schwartz continued dominating from the hill into the eighth inning working with a two run cushion. Shaun Cooper (Utah) decided to all but put the game in the books in the bottom of the eight crushing a three-run home run to deep left-centerfield to give the MoonDogs a 5-0 lead over the Border Cats heading into the ninth inning. That is where Schwartz shut the door retiring the âCats three up, three down to end the game.
The MoonDogs continue their three game home series tomorrow night, Tuesday June 28th, at 7:05pm against Thunder Bay. Tuesday there is a Hickory Tech t-shirt giveaway, the first 500 fans receive a free MoonDogs t-shirt courtesy of Hickory Tech.
