Cleveland Force News Release

CLEVELAND, OHIO – For the third consecutive season, the Cleveland Force has teamed up with the Cleveland Municipal School District to support education in Cleveland, through the "Kick In and Win" program.

The "Kick In and Win" program was developed by the Force, with the help of teachers from area schools, to offer sixth grade students within the school district a chance to learn and master some of the basic educational building blocks in a new and exciting way. The curriculum books, created by teachers, cover five basic areas of study: Math, Science, Geography, Social Studies and Literacy. What sets the program apart from similar study aids, is that each field of study is geared to focus on the real life world of soccer

A second unique feature of the program is the assembly. Cleveland Force Players and Coaches will travel to over 15 middle schools in the Cleveland area to talk to the students about the significance of a good education and a healthy lifestyle in achieving their goals.

Here is a list of the remaining schools with assemblies:

The final feature to this unique program is the third annual Cleveland Force School Day Game. On Wednesday, February 5th, 2003 participants in the "Kick In and Win" program will travel with their school to the CSU Convocation Center downtown to watch the Force battle the Milwaukee Wave at 10:35 a.m. This special morning game will give the children the chance to cheer on some of the players they met through their school's assembly, and demonstrate the success the team has achieved through the healthy lifestyles and education they spoke to the students about.

By offering these types of educational opportunities through soccer, the Force can act as positive role models for the youth of Cleveland. The team can experience victory not only on the field, but also in each and every step towards building a better community for the role models of tomorrow.
