Schaumburg Loses a Heartbreaker 4-1 to Fargo-Moorhead

Schaumburg Flyers News Release

Fargo, ND - The Pilots (5-13) lost another tough game at the hands of the Redhawks (11-5). Schaumburg starter Brett Harker (1-3) tossed 7.1 strong innings, scattering five hits while walking four and striking out one.

But Redhawks starter Jake Laber (2-1) was just that much better. Sporting a 9.53 ERA coming into Monday's game, the southpaw put together a complete game victory with five strikeouts and no walks on just 85 pitches.

In the bottom of the eighth, Harker gave up a single to Redhawks right fielder Mike Coles to start the inning. Then after a sacrifice bunt and intentional walk, manager Mike Busch elected to go with Josh Giles out of the bullpen. The righty walked Jesse Hoorelbeke, which meant the end of Giles' night.

Lefty Reid Price came in to allow the go-ahead two run single to Alan Rick. The other two runs came off of a Cory Patton two run single into center field off of Schaumburg reliever Brian McCullough to make it a 4-1 lead.

The Pilots continue their four game series with the Redhawks on Wednesday evening.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:02 PM. Join Alex Perlman on 1410 WRMN and flyersbaseball.com for all the action as the Pilots take on the Redhawks. The Schaumburg Pilots Pregame Show gets rolling at 6:45 PM with the game to follow.
