Sauer Power: Dash Shut out P-Nats in Game One

(WINSTON-SALEM, NC) The red-hot PotomacNationals offense ran into a buzzsaw in Game One of the Mills CupFinals. Stephen Sauer tossed eight shutout innings - including aperfect first five - and powered a 4-0 Dash victory in Game One.

Danny Rosenbaum matched wits with Sauer for the first threeinnings but coughed up the lead in the fourth. Ozzie Lewis hit a rocketinto the bullpen in left field to stake the Dash to a one-runadvantage.

A.J. Morris was summoned from the bullpen with one out in thefifth and worked out of a jam; with runners on the corners, Morrisinduced a groundout and line-out to end the threat.

Potomac broke up Sauer's perfect game in the sixth inning andbuilt their best scoring chance of the night. Singles by Jose Lozadaand Chris Curran put Nationals at the corners with one out, but SeanNicol bounced into an inning-ending double play.

The Dash seized the momentum of that escape, and tacked on twomore runs in their half of the sixth. Seth Loman and Lewis led off theinning with singles. Jose Martinez, attempting to sacrifice, finessed abunt between Morris and Robbie Jacobsen for a hit that loaded thebases. Jason Bour hit a ball up the middle that Jose Lozada kept on theinfield with a diving stop. He flipped to second for the inning's firstout but a run scored to double the Dash's lead. Drew Garcia then hit aground ball that got by Jacobsen at third and scored Lewis for thethird run.

Kenny Williams, Jr.'s leadoff double in the seventh led to thefourth and final Dash tally. He advanced to third on a Brandon Shortgroundout and scored on another Loman single. On the night Williamswent 3-for-4.

Tyson Corley pitched a perfect ninth for the save.

Tuesday night, Trevor Holder takes the ball against DylanAxelrod. First pitch is scheduled for 7 P.M.; the broadcast can beheard beginning at 6:30.
