WHAT: History is going to be made in Philadelphia on July 12th, 2008. The Philadelphia Soul host the Cleveland Gladiators in the Soul's first trip to the Arena Football League's National Conference Championship Game on their drive to ArenaBowl XXII presented by Virgin Mobile.
On Thursday, July 10th only the Soul are offering tickets for a special price of $7.12 to honor this momentous day (July 12). To kick off the celebration, Soulman and Soul fans will venture from the team practice facility, the Coliseum in Voorhees, NJ, to the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, the venue of the game, to deliver the game ball in preparation for Saturday's big game.
Soul head coach Bret Munsey will start the event by handing the ball off to Soulman at approximately 8:45 am. Different fans will be lined along the way and the game ball will be handed off fan to fan for the duration of the 18 mile trip. Saturn of Philadelphia will be providing cars and other transportation will aid during stretches of the trip.
WHO: The Eastern Division Champion Philadelphia Soul's fans along with Soulman. Season ticket holders and fans were asked to submit their name to be considered for this unique opportunity by calling 215-636-0421.
WHERE: The procession will start at the Soul's practice facility at the Coliseum which is located at 333 Preston Avenue in Voorhees. The game ball will then make venture west onto Evesham Road before going north on White Horse Pike/US 30. Saturn of Philadelphia has provided cars to help take Soulman over the Ben Franklin Bridge with the game ball. The trek ends at the Wachovia Center.
WHEN: Thursday, July 10th 2008
Approximate time of arrival at locations:
8:45a.m. - Players and coaches convene in front of the Coliseum at 333 Preston Ave in Voorhees and hand off the ball to Soulman who starts the walk.
11:30a.m. - Saturn cars, motorcycles and fan cars take the ball over the Ben Franklin Bridge
12:00p.m. - Caravan meets outside of the Constitution Center at the intersection of Arch and 6th Streets in Center City Philadelphia. Soul Band and Drum Line join the walk to the Wachovia Center
1:00p.m. - Caravan reaches City Hall and turns south down Broad Street
3:00 p.m. - Game Ball and Soulman meet up with players at Citizens Bank Park for the 7th inning stretch with the Phillie Phanatic.
5:00 p.m. - Game Ball on Daily News Live and placed in safe place until game on Saturday
