Chicago Rush News Release
July 9, 2008 - Chicago Rush defensive back Dennison Robinson has been named the Arena Football League's Defensive Player of the Year, the AFL announced today.
Robinson (6-0, 195, West Georgia), who last month was named First Team All-Arena, led the AFL with a league-record tying 13 interceptions, while also recording 92.5 tackles, nine passes broken up and three forced fumbles.
"D-Rob has been playing great football for a long time and I'm happy he has finally been given the recognition he deserves," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "Football means a great deal to him, and it shows in everything he does. I am truly a better coach for having had the opportunity to coach him."
Since moving to defensive back on a full time basis at the start of the 2007 season, Robinson has recorded more interceptions (20) than any other player in the AFL. In addition, his 194.5 tackles during the past two seasons rank sixth in the league.
Robinson, who just completed his third season with the Rush, is Chicago's career leader with 265.5 tackles. He ranks second in team history with 25 interceptions in a Rush uniform - one behind Dameon Porter's 26 interceptions from 2001-2003.
