Columbus Lions News Release
Columbus, GA "" The general public is invited to stop by the Columbus Civic Center Saturday, even if they're not among the football players vying to impress Lions Head Coach Jason Gibson at his open player tryouts, or bringing their daughters for the Junior Lady Lions morning Dance Camp and afternoon tryouts. There's no admission for any of the activities.
From 10:30 a.m. till 12 p.m. noon, the Lions will staff a table at midfield behind Section 103B where people are encouraged to fill out contact information forms expressing their interest in working game-day positions including: program sellers, merchandise sales, will-call ticket service, fan relations table, on-field promotions crew, public address announcer, scoreboard operator, music coordinator, video camera operator, press box crew (statistician, spotter, official scorer), chain crew (down markers), operations and errand-runners.
"Leo the Lion", Columbus' venerable and affable mascot, will be on hand to entertain with registration for the player tryouts starting at 8 a.m. and the tryouts themselves beginning promptly at 9 o'clock. Pre-registration is available online at www.columbuslions.net by clicking on the tryout link on the home page, as are details of required attire, equipment and tryout drills.
The Lady Lions dance team will conduct the Junior Lady Lions dance camp in the Civic Center hospitality suites, beginning with registration from 9:30-10:00 a.m. "Leo the Lion" will visit the candidates during their lunch break between 11:30 and noon. After review from the morning session and breakout into groups, the tryouts will take place from 1-3 p.m. Complete details are available at www.columbuslions.net/LadyLions/Jr.DanceTeam.
Off a 12-2 year that ended with the team just missing the title game, the Lions have already sold nearly 600 ticket plans for the 2012 Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) season.
Due to the Lions' outstanding record of never missing league postseason (6-4 overall record following 51-15 combined regular seasons under Head Coach Jason Gibson), the team now offers customers the option of pre-purchasing playoff tickets for their same seats under a system where fans get two playoff games for the price of one. If the Lions should miss the playoffs, the extra dollars are rolled over as credit towards 2013 season tickets. (...continued...)
Fans may select seats while at the Civic Center from among scarce Row A "Jungle" seating ($350 per seat for seven home games, or $400 with the new 2-games-for-the-price-of-1 playoff option). Rows B and C sell for $245 per seat, or $280 (playoff option). By purchasing the playoff option and placing at least a 25% deposit, fans will receive $20 per seat in "Lions Loot" "" spending money for any item sold at Lions games, to be used $1 at a time, or $1 per transaction.
Lower Level seats, totaling roughly a quarter of the building's seating capacity of 7,509, remain at $18 per game and will sell for $120 as season tickets ($140 with the playoff option). Upper Level tickets, of which there are roughly 5,000, are $13 per game, $90 for the season or $105 (playoff option). Season ticketholders at both levels who take the playoff option will receive $10 per seat in "Lions Loot", provided they place a 25% deposit or more.
Once again, the Lions offer "flex" ticket packages that afford the buyer the luxury of using ticket vouchers in any combination of the game(s) of his or her choice. Our "First and Ten" ticket plan offers 10 Lower Level vouchers for $150, a $30 savings off gate prices. The larger "flex" packages offer 30 vouchers for $500, 50 for $800, 75 for $1,000 and 100 for $1,250 ... perfect for companies of all sizes, churches and other organizations to share! They, too, each come with the option of purchasing playoff ticket vouchers up front.
For those who can't make it to the Civic Center this Saturday, questions regarding season tickets, "flex" ticket plans, group outings, advertising and promotional sponsorships will be answered by calling the Lions' Golden Park offices at 706-322-3336, or visiting www.columbuslions.net, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until (long hours this time of year!)
