
Santa Fe and Colorado Springs schedule tryout camps

Santa Fe, NM. In a joint announcement, the New Mexico Style and Colorado Storm ABA professional basketball teams announced their first tryouts for the 2005-2006 season. Ten players from each session will be invited to participate in the teams' veteran camps that begin November 1st.
The New Mexico Style Tryout will be directed by the New Mexico Style staff and the Colorado Storm Tryout will be directed by the Colorado Storm staff and special invited guests. Space is limited and it is highly recommended that players register early. Pre-registration is $125; after the deadline $150. Participants will be allowed on a space available basis. The player tryouts will feature one session per day and both days are open to the public. the session will consist of registration, warm-up and shoot around starts at 9am. Tip-off will be at 10am and will conclude at 3pm. John Lewis, New Mexico Style GM answered some frequently answered questions:
Q: Are the Teams players on salary?
A: Yes, the Team contracted players sign a professional contract that includes a salary plus bonus incentives based on results produced on and off the court.
Q: How many players will be invited to the Teams Training-Veteran Camp that starts in November?
A: The Teams will invite no more than 30 players to each Training Camp.
Q: How many people will make the team for the final roster?
A: The teams will have 10-12 per team.
Q: How many games do you play and where do you play?
A: The Teams will play a 36 game schedule from Nov thru early Mar and feature 18 home games at venues to be announced shortly.
Q: What would you suggest I bring to the tryout?
A: Your basketball gear, a strong mindset, and the will to compete at a physical professional level, a well-conditioned body, and a heart that understands the opportunity that is before you.
Q: What are the advantages of being part of the Storm or Style?
A: An opportunity to play pro basketball, exposure to pro international teams and the NBA, plus superior development and training on and off the court.
Q: Where are the tryouts?
A: Genoveva Chavez Community Center, 3221 Rodeo Road, Santa Fe, NM and a gym in Denver to be announced shortly.
