SANTA CRUZ Calif. - The defending NBA D-League Champion Santa Cruz Warriors (16-26) defeated the Delaware 87ers (18-24) 132-117 on Sunday in front of a sell-out crowd at Kaiser Permanente Arena.

Xavier Henry paced Santa Cruz with 25 points on 7-of-8 shooting. Cliff Alexander, playing on assignment from the Portland Trail Blazers, recorded 21 points and 6 rebounds, while Verdell Jones III added 18 points. Aaron Craft posted a double-double, finishing with 10 points and 12 assists.

Sam Thompson and Russ Smith paced Delaware with 26 points apiece, with Smith adding 14 assists on the night. Christian Wood posted 23 points and 8 rebounds, while Ty Greene added 15 points.

The Warriors grabbed the early 16-11 lead to start the game behind ten combined points from Luis Montero and Chris Udofia. Santa Cruz would maintain its lead and end the first quarter with a 29-27 advantage.

Santa Cruz would start next frame with a 7-2 run to take a 36-29 lead in the opening minutes of the second period. The Warriors would extend their advantage to as many as ten points before Delaware chipped away at the Santa Cruz lead to enter halftime at a four-point deficit.

Both teams stayed close to start the third quarter before Santa Cruz's 19-5 run to take an 88-73 lead by the 4:20 mark in the third quarter. The Warriors would push their lead to as many as nineteen points on 72 % shooting to enter the final frame holding a 101-89 advantage.

Santa Cruz began the fourth quarter on a 20-8 run to hold a 121-97 advantage halfway through the fourth quarter. The Warriors would never relinquish the lead, earning the 132-117 win over the 87ers.
