BILOXI, Miss. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, led 1-0 through five innings but were defeated 3-1 by the Biloxi Shuckers Thursday night at MGM Park.

Patrick Sandoval tossed 4 2/3 scoreless innings in his Double-A debut. He gave up three hits, walked three batters, and recorded six strikeouts in a no-decision. Sandoval has not allowed a run since July 22, spanning 19 1/3 innings.

Zach Houchins hit a solo home run to put the BayBears (60-60 overall, 23-29 second half) on the board in the first inning. It was Houchins' second home run of the series, with both coming in the opening frame.

However, Biloxi (70-53, 29-24) responded with a pair of runs against Dario Beltre (1-2) in the bottom of the sixth. Clint Coulter hit a game-tying single, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and scored on a throwing error. Blake Allemand added a run of insurance with an RBI single the next inning, and he finished the game 3-for-3.

Conor Harber, Matt Albers (1-0), and Jeff Ames combined to strike out 17 Mobile batters.

The BayBears continue the six-game road series against Biloxi Friday at 6:35 p.m. CDT. Right-handed pitcher Jose Rodriguez (7-9, 6.07 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against southpaw Cameron Roegner (0-0, 2.45 ERA) for the Shuckers.
