
Sand Gnats Drop Game Two 5-2 Wednesday

Savannah, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets scored three times in their final two turns at bat to defeat the Savannah Sand Gnats 5-2 Wednesday night at Historic Grayson Stadium. Augusta has won the first two games of the series.
The GreenJackets (5-2/38-38) scored a single run in the top of the eighth inning to take a 3-2 lead. CF Brennan Metzger tripled inside the left field and scored the go ahead run on a wild pitch by starter Casey Delgado. Augusta added two runs against Delgado and reliever Alberto Baldonado on RBI singles by the eight and nine hitters, Ryan Jones and Brennan Metzger to build the final margin.
The Gnats (1-5/40-36) evened the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Catcher Tomas Nido tripled to begin the inning and scored on centerfielder John Mora's single to center. Mora finished with three hits on the night.
Savannah scored the game's first run in the second when right fielder Joe Tuschak singled home first baseman Jon Leroux.
Augusta scored a pair of unearned runs in the top of the fifth to take a 2-1 lead.
The Gnats were 3-for-16 with runners in scoring position and struck out 15 times Wednesday. Eight different Sand Gnats registered hits in the game.
The Sand Gnats and 'Jackets continue their four-game series tomorrow with Budweiser Thirsty Thursday. Savannah will send RHP Martires Arias (3-3, 3.22) to the hill, while the 'Jackets will send RHP Chris Johnson (0-1, 5.40) to the mound for game three. Thursday will be Budweiser Thirsty Thursday with half-priced regular sodas and draft beers all night long brought to you by Budweiser, E-93, Connect Savannah, and I-95. Gates will open at 6 PM and first pitch is set for 7:05 PM. Wednesday's game was a Guaranteed Win Wednesday and tickets from the game are exchangeable for the game on Tuesday, July 14th.
