Giants Begin Road Trip In Modesto Tonight The San Jose Giants begin a seven-game road trip this evening with the first of three straight contests against the Modesto Nuts at John Thurman Field. Luis Ysla is slated to make the start on the mound for San Jose tonight. Over his last four appearances (two starts), Ysla has thrown 17 innings with just three runs allowed and 27 strikeouts. After the current series versus Modesto, the Giants continue their trip with a four-game set in Lake Elsinore beginning on Thursday. San Jose returns to Municipal Stadium on August 11.

Series Win Over The Ports The Giants won three out of four games from the Stockton Ports in a series that concluded last night at Municipal Stadium. San Jose secured victories of 4-1 and 1-0 on Thursday and Friday respectively before the Ports earned an 8-5, 12-inning win on Saturday. The Giants then won the series after a 6-2 triumph last night. San Jose has now won 13 out of their last 15 home games.

At .500 With yesterday's win, the Giants returned their overall record to .500 (53-53). San Jose was last over the .500 mark during the opening week of the season (2-1 record on April 11). The Giants' low mark of the year came on May 18 when they dropped 14 games below .500 (12-26).

In The Standings The Giants are currently in second place in the second half North Division standings with a 23-13 record - two games behind Modesto (25-11) for the top spot. San Jose's 53-53 overall record puts them one game behind Stockton (54-52) for the North Wild Card lead. The Giants were 11 games behind the Ports in the Wild Card race on July 4.

Winning Ways The Giants enter this evening's contest having posted a 19-6 record in their last 25 games. San Jose boasts a team ERA of 2.16 (57 ER/237.1 IP) during the stretch.

Ragira Surges In Second Half Brian Ragira is batting .314 with five home runs in the second half (29 games) after hitting just .207 with four homers in the first half (49 games). He now leads the team with 40 RBI's. Ragira has hit 29 home runs with the San Jose Giants over the last two seasons. Last year in the second half, he hit .297 with 15 homers after batting just .224 with five home runs before the All-Star break.

Extra, Extra The Giants have gone into extra-innings three times in their last seven games. San Jose is 9-8 in extra-inning games this season. Their 17 extra-inning games played are tied with Bakersfield for the most in the league.

Arroyo's Hitting Streak At Eight Games Shortstop Christian Arroyo is currently riding a season-high tying eight-game hitting streak. He's batting at a .314 clip (11-for-35) with two doubles, two home runs and nine RBI's during the streak. Arroyo owns a .348 batting average since the All-Star break (33 games).

On The Road Since starting the season 7-18 on the road, the Giants have posted a 13-11 record away from Municipal Stadium dating back to May 31. San Jose's three-game sweep at Modesto from July 11-13 is their only road series win this year. The Giants have a 4.36 team ERA on the road this season compared to 2.96 at home.

July Review The Giants finished July with a league-best 20-9 record. It was San Jose's first 20-win month since May of 2011 (22-7 - tied team record for most wins in a month). The Giants led the league with a 2.62 July ERA (1.70 bullpen ERA). July marked San Jose's first winning month of the season (April 7-14, May 14-15, June 11-14). Opponent Notes: Modesto Nuts The Modesto Nuts, an affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, have won 14 out of their last 18 games. Modesto is third in the league in batting average (.269) and third in ERA (3.84). The Nuts are 29-25 at home (29-23 road).
