Giants Begin Three-Game Series Against Lancaster Tonight

The San Jose Giants continue their homestand this evening with the opener of a three-game series against the Lancaster JetHawks at Municipal Stadium. San Jose is 6-2 against the JetHawks this year. The two teams split a four-game series in Lancaster to open the regular season before the Giants swept four games versus the JetHawks at Municipal Stadium from July 18-21.

Sweep Avoided

The Giants avoided a three-game sweep at the hands of the visiting Visalia Rawhide yesterday afternoon scoring a run in the bottom of the ninth to earn a 4-3 victory. It marked San Jose's ninth walk-off win of the season. Visalia won the first two games of the series by the scores of 6-4 (11 innings) on Tuesday and 6-0 on Wednesday. The Giants have still not been swept in a series since dropping four straight games to the Lake Elsinore Storm from May 4-7 at Municipal Stadium.

Offensive Woes

The Giants have been shutout in two out of their last four games (Sunday at Lake Elsinore and Wednesday vs. Visalia) picking-up just two hits in both contests. Over their last 16 games (7-9 record), San Jose is batting just .205 as a team and averaging 3.2 runs per contest.

Lost Six Of Eight

The Giants are 2-6 in their last eight games after going 21-6 in their previous 27 games.
