Joe Ritzo handles the play-by-play while color commentary duties will be provided by Joe Castellano on Thursday and Scott Armstrong on Friday and Saturday. Giants Host Bakersfield In Home Opener Tonight The San Jose Giants host the Bakersfield Blaze in their home opener this evening at Municipal Stadium. Chase Johnson (0-0, 0.00) is slated to make the start on the mound for San Jose tonight. This evening marks the first of four straight games for the Giants against the Blaze in this series before the homestand continues with a three-game set versus the Inland Empire 66ers beginning on Monday.

Road Trip Review The Giants posted a 2-5 record during their season-opening road trip that concluded yesterday. San Jose began the year by splitting a four-game series in Lancaster before dropping three straight to the Visalia Rawhide. The Giants gave up just 12 runs over their first five games this season before yielding 24 runs in their last two contests.

Four Straight Losses San Jose enters tonight's contest having lost four games in a row. During their four-game slide, the Giants have been outscored 30-10.

Arroyo's Fast Start Shortstop Christian Arroyo is off to a fast start at the plate for the Giants. In his first seven games, Arroyo is 9-for-28 (.321) with two home runs and five RBI's. Arroyo has homered twice over his last three games. His four doubles this season are tied for the league lead. Arroyo, 19, is the youngest player on San Jose's roster.

Defensive Struggles The Giants have committed 11 errors over their last three games, including a season-high six miscues in last night's loss.

Stellar Starters The four starting pitchers scheduled to get the ball for the Giants in this series - Chase Johnson, Keury Mella, D.J. Snelten and Luis Ysla - have combined to throw 18 innings this season with just four earned runs allowed (2.00 ERA).

Top Prospects Six players on San Jose's roster are among the top 30 prospects in the organization according to Baseball America, including four out of the six pitchers in the Giants starting rotation. San Jose players among the top 30 prospects include: pitcher Tyler Beede (#2), pitcher Keury Mella (#4), shortstop Christian Arroyo (#10), pitcher Chase Johnson (#20), pitcher Luis Ysla (#21) and third baseman Ryder Jones (#30).

High Draft Picks San Francisco's last two first round draft picks are on San Jose's roster: shortstop Christian Arroyo (25th overall selection in 2013) and starting pitcher Tyler Beede (14th overall selection in 2014). Arroyo was a Northwest League All-Star last season while playing for the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. He finished the year ranked second in the league in batting average (.333) to go with five home runs and 48 RBI's in 58 games. Beede enters the year with only 15 1/3 innings of professional experience after signing last July. Third baseman Ryder Jones (2nd round, 2013), starting pitcher Martin Agosta (2nd round, 2012), starting pitcher Chase Johnson (3rd round, 2013), first baseman Brian Ragira (4th round, 2013) and reliever Dan Slania (5th round, 2013) were also drafted in the first five rounds by the San Francisco Giants.

Opponent Notes: Bakersfield Blaze The Bakersfield Blaze, an affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, are off to a 2-5 start this season. Bakersfield is last in the California League in batting average (.167) and runs scored (2.4 per game). Tonight marks the first of 27 meetings this season between the Giants and Blaze - San Jose's most frequent opponent in 2015. Right-hander Dan Altavilla is expected to start on the mound tonight. Altavilla allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings in his first start.
