
San Diego Surf and Los Angeles Slam Advance to SoCal Classic Championship

In the first game of Friday nights doubleheader, the Los Angeles Slam overcame a ten point deficit against the Midvalley Titans to hang on for the 106-103 win.
The Titans missed a game-tying three-pointer with four seconds remaining and will face off against the SoCal Swish in Saturday's 5:30 consolation game.
The Slam will meet the San Diego Surf in the championship game at 7:30. The Surf played their best team effort of the season in the 111-88 victory. Led by Gene Shipley's 19 points and 12 rebounds, not one Surf player scored more than 20 points.
Ervin Dunson added 16 points, while Aaron Hands and Papa Guisse had 11 rebounds each. Dan Brady and Mo Clady had 10 and 9 assists, respectfully.
In other Surf news, 6'9"Gene Shipley was named to the ABA West All-Star team, which will be held be played in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday, February 26.
Papa Guisse just arrived in San Diego to join the Surf this week. Guisse, 6'8", is a Senegal native who just graduated from Cal State Fullerton and was referred by Memphis Grizzlies assistant coach Barry Hecker.
