
San Diego steals win 4-3

The San Diego Surf Dawgs snatched victory from the jaws of defeat Thursday night at Goodwin Field by turning a two-run deficit into a one-run lead behind a three-run 8th inning rally. Jeff Groeger gave up a one-out single to Adam Mandel and then walked Tony Garcia after an extended at-bat. Seth Pietsch bounced an RBI single into right field and the throw by Jesse Schmidt got by Bret Levier at third base to score the tying run.
Scott Goodman followed that play with a sacrifice fly to drive home the winning run.
Josh Rummonds closed it in the 9th inning by striking out Garry Templeton II with a runner on. It was Rummonds 9th save of the season.
Peanut Williams solo blast in the 2nd inning put the Flyers in front 1-0.
Jeremy Sugarman was dominant threw 6.1 innings allowing one unearned run and just two hits. Ryan Olson got two quick outs in relief.
After making his second error of the game to lead to the tying run, Gabe Mayorga started a 7th inning rally to put the Flyers in front 2-1. He scored on an RBI single by Toshi Sasa.
The Flyers record fell to 2-3 in the second half and San Diego moved to 3-1, despite finishing last in the first half of the season.
Craig Frydendall will take to the mound for the Flyers Friday night at 7:05 pm.
