San Antonio to Host First NFL Network Playoff Game

July 10, 2012 - Arena Football League (AFL) News Release

CHICAGO - As the 2012 Arena Football League postseason picture begins to clear, the San Antonio Talons (13-3) have been announced as the opening round host for NFL Network's broadcast of "NET10 Arena Football Friday", the League office announced today.

The contest will be the first professional football playoff game ever played in San Antonio. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET on Friday, July 27 from the Alamodome.

The Talons, in the midst of a 10-game winning streak, clinched the Central Division championship in Week 18 with a 61-54 victory over the Chicago Rush (9-7).

Though none of the National Conference seedings have been finalized, all four playoff teams from the conference are set, as the Arizona Rattlers (12-4), Utah Blaze (11-5) and San Jose SaberCats (11-6) have all clinched postseason berths.

With a victory over the Rattlers in Week 19, San Antonio can clinch the number one seed and home field advantage through the first two rounds of the playoffs leading up to AVITAE ArenaBowl XXV in New Orleans on August 10. Arizona was the last team to defeat the Talons before San Antonio began its winning streak in late April. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET.
