San Antonio FC News Release
SAN ANTONIO, TX - San Antonio FC (12-9-7) will travel to face Tulsa Roughnecks FC (2-14-11) at ONEOK Field on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7 pm. SAFC will look to increase their winning streak to four matches while remaining undefeated all-time against the Roughnecks.
SAFC heads into the match after earning a 3-2 win against Phoenix Rising FC at home last Saturday. The club has scored eight goals in their current three-game winning streak, which marks the second time this season that the team has achieved the feat.
"We're all very focused on the match at Tulsa," SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell said. "We've worked on both sides of the ball this week to make sure everybody is prepared and improve on our performances over the past couple of weeks."
The Roughnecks will look to get a win at home after going winless for five consecutive matches. The club has won two matches this season, most recently beating the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC 2-1 at home. SAFC and Tulsa played to a 1-1 draw at Toyota Field on May 19 in their last matchup.
The Alamo City club is 5-0-1 all-time against the Roughnecks and 2-0-0 on the road. The clubs also faced each other in the USL Western Conference Quarterfinals in the 2017 USL Playoffs in a match where SAFC earned a victory with a late converted penalty from forward Ever Guzman.
Guzman will spearhead the SAFC attack yet again as the striker looks to continue his run of good form. The Mexico native has scored three goals in as many matches and leads the team with eight goals on the season. Guzman also became the club's all-time leading scorer after converting in the 33rd minute of the team's win against Phoenix on Saturday.
The match marks the first of three consecutive road matches for the club in which it will also face Swope Park Rangers and Saint Louis FC in the span of eight days. The club will then conclude the regular season with three consecutive home matches against Seattle Sounders FC 2, Las Vegas Lights FC, and RGV FC, respectively.
