San Antonio FC News Release
SAN ANTONIO, TX - San Antonio FC (12-11-7) will face Saint Louis FC (12-8-10) at Toyota Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the club's final away game of the USL regular season. The match marks the second between the two clubs in 2018 and fourth overall.
SAFC will look to earn three crucial points as they look to remain in control of its playoff destiny. The team is currently in ninth place in the Western Conference standings and within three points of Reno 1868 FC and Saint Louis FC. With a win, SAFC could potentially find itself in seventh place as they return home to conclude the regular season with three consecutive home matches.
Saint Louis FC heads into the match after going unbeaten in their previous three matches, earning two wins and a draw. The club has lost just two matches at home this season and has not fallen at Toyota Stadium since June 16 when they lost 0-1 against Real Monarchs SLC.
The match marks just the fourth time SAFC and Saint Louis FC will face each other. The Alamo City club is 2-1-0 all-time against STL and most recently earned a 2-1 win against the club in their 2018 home opener at Toyota Field. SAFC earned a 2-0 win against STL FC on Aug. 27, 2016 in their only matchup on the road.
For SAFC, capitalizing on opportunities will be key. In the club's three-game winning streak from Aug. 29 - Sept. 10, the team converted 38.1 percent of their shots on target, scoring eight goals along the way. In contrast, SAFC converted just 16.7 percent of their shots on target into goals in their last two matches.
Following the match, San Antonio FC will return to Toyota Field for its last three matches of the season where the club will host Seattle Sounders FC 2, Las Vegas Lights FC, and Rio Grande Valley FC, respectively.
