San Antonio FC News Release
SAN ANTONIO, TX - San Antonio FC has added defender and Texas native Moises Hernandez on loan from FC Dallas (MLS), the club announced today. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Hernandez joins San Antonio after spending the last few months of the 2018 MLS season with FC Dallas. Hernandez returned to FC Dallas in July after spending two seasons with Comunicaciones in the first division of Guatemala where he appeared in 46 matches.
"We are looking forward to having Moises joining the group and help us continue to push towards the end of the season," said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell. "He comes with a good pedigree, and we appreciate FC Dallas making him available to us at this time."
Hernandez first joined FC Dallas in 2010 along with Victor Ulloa and Ruben Luna as the club's second, third and fourth ever Homegrown players. Hernandez spent time on loan with Comunicaciones and Deportivo Saprissa (Costa Rica) before making his FC Dallas first-team debut in 2014. Overall with the MLS side, the defender has appeared in 31 matches, tallying 2,084 minutes while recording two assists and 10 shots. Hernandez also appeared in two MLS playoff matches in 2014, totaling 175 minutes over two starts.
The 26-year-old has represented the United States at the U-20 level before making 15 appearances with the Guatemalan national team in World Cup Qualifiers, CONCACAF Gold Cup matches and international friendlies. He made his debut for Guatemala in 2015. The Dallas native also had a loan spell at former NASL club Rayo OKC in 2016.
"I am excited to join San Antonio FC on loan," said Hernandez. "This is a great city and a great organization, and I am looking forward to playing in front of the SAFC fans while helping the team in any way I can."
With the addition of Hernandez, the SAFC roster currently stands at 27. Hernandez will wear No. 6 for the club.
San Antonio FC will host Phoenix Rising FC on September 8 at Toyota Field as part of 'Our Future' night presented by Cheerios. Fans can purchase tickets by calling the SAFC sales office at 210-444-5657 or by visiting SanAntonioFC.com.
