San Antonio Brings Back An Original Scorpion

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The San Antonio Scorpions have re-signed original Scorpions goalkeeper Daryl Sattler announced team President / General Manager Howard Cornfield and Head Coach Alen Marcina today.

Sattler, a fan favorite, made 26 appearances for the Scorpions in their inaugural 2012 season when he helped lead the team to the top of the regular season table and won the NASL's Golden Gloves Award as the league's best goalkeeper.

"Daryl was an integral part of the team that won the regular season title in 2012," said Cornfield. "We're glad to welcome him back to San Antonio and we're looking forward to seeing him in a Scorpions uniform tomorrow against the Mexican U-21 National Team."

6'2" Sattler posted a 0.79 goals against average with 13 shutouts during the 2012 campaign.The 33-year-old native Tennessean played college soccer at Western Kentucky, where he still holds the career record for most shutouts with 19. In addition to his previous stint with the Scorpions, Sattler has played professionally for the Nashville Metros (USL PDL), Memphis Express (USL PDL), Atlanta Silverbacks (USL 1st Div), Wilmington Hammerheads (USL Pro), FC tampa Bay (NASL) and Minnesota United (NASL).

The Scorpions play their second of three international friendlies this Saturday at 7:30pm at Toyota Field against the Mexican Under-21 National Team and then will host one more international friendly on July 6th at 6:00pm against Liga MX powerhouse Club de Fútbol Monterrey. The Scorpions play their first home game of the fall NASL season on July 19th at 7:30pm against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers.
