San Angelo Colts News Release

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The All-Stars are coming! The All-Stars are coming! San Angelo and Colts fans will be treated to watching the best players from United League Baseball this upcoming season. Last week, the United League awarded San Angelo the 2008 ULB All-Star game. The Colts organization is very excited about the news and looks forward to hosting the All-Star game and the events surrounding it. The Colts are coming off a wonderful 2007 season that saw the highest attendance since the franchise's second season in 2001.106,411 fans walked through the turnstiles during the 46 openings this season, which is an average of 2,313 per game.

"San Angelo is an excellent choice for our third All-Star game," said United League President Craig Brasfield. "Colts GM Mike Babcock runs a great operation, and Foster Field is a nice stadium. It just makes sense to have it in San Angelo."

"We are excited that our fans in San Angelo and in the entire Concho Valley region will get to experience the All-Star game and its festivities," said Babcock. "Hosting is more than an event. It is a recognition of the loyalty our wonderful fans have shown us."

This isn't the first time Foster Field has hosted an All-Star game. In 2003, the now-defunct Central League had its All-Star game in San Angelo. Five years later, San Angelo will be the site for another All-Star game.

"San Angelo is a great town, and has a wonderful fan base," stated Brasfield. "It is one of our better markets, and it is a chance for the United League to shine."

This will be the third All-Star game for the United League. The inaugural event was hosted by Edinburgh, and Amarillo was the site of the 2007 All-Star game. In last season's contest, the Team North All-Stars (Alexandria, Amarillo, and San Angelo) defeated the Team Rio Grande All-Stars (Edinburg, Laredo, and Rio Grande Valley) by a score of 10-1.

If your business is interested in sponsoring the event or donating for the gift bag, please contact Robert Gusick, the Colts' Director of Sales, at (325) 942-6587 or by email at rgusick@unitedleague.org.

The San Angelo Colts are a part of a six-team league that make up United League Baseball. The independent league has teams located in San Angelo, Laredo, Amarillo, Edinburg, and Rio Grande Valley, Texas as well as Alexandria, Louisiana, and began play in the 2006 season.
