Salmon Kings Sign Ryan White

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that they have signed defenseman Ryan White for the 2009-10 season.

The Edmonton, Alberta native joins the Salmon Kings this fall for his rookie professional season. Last year White spent the season with the University of Alberta Golden Bears where he scored nine points (1g-8a) in 21 games while serving four minutes in penalties.

"Ryan is a solid defender who is also a strong skater," General Manager and Head Coach Mark Morrison said. "We are excited to add him to our line-up."

Prior to his time in the CIS, White spent three seasons playing in the WHL for the Prince Albert Raiders (2005-2007) and Kamloops Blazers (2007-08). White played in 176 games and notched 56 points (8g-48a) while collecting 96 minutes in penalties for his WHL career.

The 5-11, 190 lb White began his junior hockey career in 2004-05 with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the AJHL. In 52 games played as an Oil Baron the defenseman scored four assists and tallied 25 penalty minutes.
